A note from the President and Artistic Director

Unveiling the First Anna-Maria Moggio International Piano and Voice Competition.

Dear Participants and Friends,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the United States for the first edition of the Anna-Maria International Piano and Voice Competition. I hope my words find you immersed in the magic of melody and the rhythm of possibility. As the artistic director, I am thrilled to welcome you to this extraordinary journey - a symphony of learning, growth, and shared artistry.

Why another music competition? Our purpose is clear: to celebrate not just polished and extraordinary performances, but also the process—the countless hours spent studying, practicing, and mastering intricate scores and finding your unique voice within the notes. This competition is not about winning; it is about weaving your own story into the grand tapestry of music and presenting it to music lovers worldwide.

Each participant will bring to the competition a wealth of personal experience and insight. Since music thrives in collaboration, each contestant will be able to interact with fellow musicians during the competition to share experiences, insights, and perhaps most difficult, to translate life into sound. The stage can be both spotlight and sanctuary. Music is your language. Speak boldly through your instrument. Let your phrasing tell stories—of love, of loss, of triumph, and of longing. The judges are not just listening; they are eavesdropping on your heart, on your soul.

On competition day, as the curtain rises, remember that every note you play or sing is a brushstroke on the canvas of eternity. The audience leans forward, eager to witness your interpretation of beauty. In that shared sonority and silence, the audience becomes one—a community of dreamers, captured by the language and the beauty of music and by its promise of an ineffable view of truth.

Win or lose, remember this: Music transcends trophies. It lingers in memory, echoing through years and seasons. So, take a bow, embrace the applause, and know that you’ve already won by daring to share your artistry.

With a heart full of anticipation and a baton poised to conduct this symphony of talent, I eagerly await our musical rendezvous. Let the overture begin!

Yours in harmony,

Sandrine Erdely-Sayo
